Meanwhile, my trigger thumb is swollen today and extremely painful. I'll finally see a doctor about it in just less than two weeks. I will definitely cause a scene if they try to put off treatment for another visit, which is this healthcare center's MO. Maximize the number of visits to maximize billing. 🙄 #CallMeKaren #USHealthcareSucks
@mlanger I don't know if your trigger thumb is the same thing I had (it popped painfully on bending/straightening), but I was able to build a splint that kept my thumb slightly bent, and it brought relief from pain and from re-irritating it all the time, especially while sleeping. I wore the splint until it eventually healed (I never did see a specialist, and my GP wasn't any help).

You could probably do something similar without welding.
A Splint for "Trigger Thumb" (Shallow Thoughts)

@akkana I've been taping it up to prevent it from moving and popping. I took all that off to do some work yesterday because I had to wash my hands a lot. I'm going to wrap it again now. It's probably the same problem.
@akkana I should add that the way I tape it still enables me to move the thumb a little and be able to grip certain things, but I can't bend it enough to pop it. It doesn't prevent the pain at the base of my thumb, however. That can get pretty intense sometimes. The tape I use is the kind that only sticks to itself. It's good because if I wrap it too tightly, I can unwrap it and re-wrap it more loosely.
