I suspect fire season where I live might be tough this year. There's a prairie open space with a lot of dry brush adjacent to our neighborhood. If that was to catch, we would need to evacuate.

#HardenedBSD does not perform off-site backups. I'm wondering if someone would be willing/able to store multiple TB of encrypted data.

Unfortunately, we do not have the funding to pay for off-site backups. I would be happy to figure out other methods of nonmonetary compensation.

We have a potential partner. More info coming in around a month. :-)
@lattera

Potential? Disks are ordered 😏 Looking forward to sponsoring the backup infra and making sure the data is safe and sound across the big pond 🥰
@lattera in France law mandates that grass/bushes be moawned on a meter large around properties to help in case of fires
@usul we have that, too. but we also have regular strong winds. an active fire only increases that wind.
@lattera also maybe tell how much data need to be backed up

@usul I wrote the post a little prematurely. the thought came to me while not at home.

not at home right now, so I can't provide firm numbers. but currently somewhere around 4TB (would grow over time). the data would be encrypted locally, so it wouldn't be compressible on the remote end.

I'll provide firm numbers when j get home later.
