Aside from the major accessibility issues, and their use of AI slop assets (which they have now apologised for and are working to remove), one of the most frustrating things about Crimson Desert is how it's been turned into this cultural flashpoint for the games industry/community.

It is either The Best Game Ever or it is a portent of doom for the future of the games industry.

Meanwhile, in reality, it's just an OK game.

It's not perfect and it's not amazing, nor is it complete trash or the worst thing around.

It is an entertaining experience that does some cool new things while also still holding on to some early 2010s design flaws.

It is a perfectly average, mediocre, open world game that wears its influences on its sleeves. And that's OK.

Sometimes it is nice to play a game, watch a movie/TV show, or read a book/comic that asks nothing more of you than to have fun.

It is not for everybody, and that is also ok.

@TheSunnyOne
I still find it interesting I've never heard of this game other than through you 😅

@vantiss IIRC it was announced back in 2020, and then made sporadic appearances at things like TGA until about a year ago where the trailers started to come morw frequently.

But I'd guess it's really only something that'd get noticed if you actively follow or watch some of the bigger events or names in the games industry.

It just sold 2 million copies on release day though, so it's def not a niche thing XD
