@Mercurial

So what should people do instead? Nothing? What are you doing to change things and how is that working out? Posting edgy comments on social media?

@HakeemG

Talk to your neighbors, grow food, prepare for power & water outages, learn survival & first aid skills, defy

I'm not interested in feeding the local warlord if there's an apocalyptic event.

@HakeemG

That's one reason to talk to neighbors: to possibly defeat warlords. Other preparations could be firearms training, martial arts, and go bags or bug-out bags for when all else fails, wildfires, nuclear war, or some other disaster.

@kete @[email protected] I’m trying to find the original post and cannot find:( I wish I knew bc this sounds interesting. was this about what should i do if i don’t like the loudness of guns? that’s my guess. i could talk to neighbors. i consider that a lot but it’s oddly so difficult. Last night or early this morning, 2 guys were shot (wounded, not dead) in a house up the street on the corner. I saw it on the news, putting on the weather forecast with my students. I said, that’s my neighborhood, I know that house, oh, someone got shot. #damn

@Mercurial

Difficult for me, too

@kete that’s one thing about this setup… so little can see the original conversations

I don't think guns are for everyone anyway, but yeah, I heard the volume is really off-putting. Also, just practicing pulling the trigger with an empty gun and the cleaning rod in the barrel to aim can help someone learn to hold the gun steady. Not sure where I heard those, but maybe here https://omny.fm/shows/cool-people-who-did-cool-stuff/part-one-ben-passmore-on-black-history
