It’s really doing it the hard way and it would be extremely painful, but maybe this is how the world gets off fossil fuels.

Everyone goes crazy building out renewables, EVs, and public transportation. I have to believe that would decimate the economies of oil/gas exporters, including the US.

Maybe this is how we do it.
