I’m “an extra member on someone else's plan" at Netflix.
They give the impression I can just hop on and off, cancelling and renewing as I feel like.
But the reality is that the account holder was getting charged even though I had cancelled and lost access. For a few months. Because they missed that they had to do something in the account too.
Renewal dates are so very opaque that we just spent 40 minutes figuring it out and devising a strategy for when I will use the service, and when I will cancel. Just so that I get charged fairly.
The reality is it's probably impossible to have a single full month as an extra member. And it would be very easy to accidentally (as we had) use for one month but get charged for two.
It's so manipulative. A clear strategy that's hostile to paying customers who don't want to renew every month.
