Watched the first #SNL UK.

I'd call it a success, in that it's a pretty solid hour of totally fine SNL sketches starring people with different accents than usual, but in that way it's also a failure, because it's /just/ the American formula directly transposed to the UK.

I hope with time #SNLUK do what the first American season did and evaluate what does and doesn't work for them, that this incarnation comes into its own on its own terms instead of feeling restrained by the mothership.

@Alexis The only way to tell if it's a success if I never really end up watching it, and it's not very good, but it becomes an icon just from people referencing it.
@kurt Seven years from now you'll see a movie trailer that's proud to tell you it stars somebody from SNL UK who's a third your age and who you've never heard of, and that's how you'll know it's a smash hit.
@kurt 🔮 And then you'll meet a tall, dark stranger, who'll,,,
@Alexis @kurt Don't stop there! I want to know about the tall, dark stranger.
@noam @kurt Uhhh, hold on. 🔮 ...a tall, dark stranger, who, uhhh, will take you on a nice date to go see the movie starring whatstheirface from off SNL UK, out exclusively in cinemas seven years from now.
@Alexis Seven years from now? *calculates* They're letting fourteen be in the cast of a sketch show now?
