🤔I wonder if there’s such a thing as being plural-adjacent.

I wonder this because when my 🧠 isn’t playing music at me, & I’m not otherwise in a flow state. I am constantly in conversation with myself, & when I am taking notes that are only ever going to be read by me it always feels more “right” to say things like “WE should” instead of “I should”

It’s not so much that there are two people in me as much as it is that I am in conversation with someone & thus there must be a “we”

@masukomi makes sense to us

@masukomi for the record, to whatever extent anyone listens to us, we absolutely consider that sort of thing to be within the banner of "plural", at least for those who want to think of themselves that way.

the entire reason we and some of our other activist friends put our collective weight behind that word is because it's a word invented by and for the community, with no medical history or other preconceptions weighing it down.

@ireneista thanks Irenes. 😊

@masukomi first of all, plurality is self-ID so the only one who can know is you.

For me (us) there is definitely a sense of different entities (active at the same time) with different desires and preferences. But this is not universal, some plurals have a single consciousness and change into the others.

You could look into median which is sort of in between plural and singlet, https://pluralpedia.org/w/Median. Also perhaps look at code switching, which is not plural but a somewhat similar experience.

Median

A median system (also called midcontinuum) is a system where members are not as distinct or separate from each other. It can be considered being somewhere between multiple and singlet. Some median systems are dependent on a single individual, or the dependence can be mutual in that there is no central...

Pluralpedia

@ayke Thanks for the pointer. I hadn't encountered that term yet.

even with plurality being self-ID I don't want to claim to be part of a group if it doesn't feel like that group's definition of "us" doesn’t seem to include me. I'm not saying that's the case here. I'm saying I don't know enough to want to make any claims / assertions.
