lb: my take on men is that they are responsible for their own behaviour and can work to unlearn the toxic things imposed on them as traits to work towards, because they're just as competent as any other gender.

much like how you shouldn't attribute evil to mental illness, you shouldn't attribute whatever most recently pissed you off about a man to masculinity as a whole.

without men and the healthy masculinity they've explored and created, we wouldn't have dad jokes or wife guys. we wouldn't have Mr. Rogers. there are a lot of wholesome memes we wouldn't have.

masculinity and male genders are nebulous concepts that are malleable, and the people of those genders can shape them. if we encourage and celebrate that, we all benefit from better dudes.

I don't think you should necessarily praise individual people for being "good" as much as identifying the traits and behaviours that lead to positive things, but the Mr. Rogers part above is about the spirit instead of the individual.

and, it is worth noting in regards to recent events, that Mr. Rogers won the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny, while Chuck Norris did not.
