Telling people that they need to personally refuse to obey fascist laws is... not ideal. Not everyone can equally afford the risk of legal exposure like that.

It's great when folks can refuse to obey, and we desperately need more people refusing to obey, but please be cognizant of the risks you're telling people that they *personally* must take on.

I mean, I get it. I say things like "don't obey in advance" and "fuck you, make me" (though I reserve criticisms of both aphorisms). Those are good instincts to have under fascism!

But also there's complexity in terms of who can best afford to take which kinds of risks from principled disobedience and under which circumstances.

Like, this is great! But also read the dollar amounts and ask who can afford that!

Please don't misunderstand me, we need a lot less obedience and a lot more flashy displays of noncompliance. Just please be careful where you're pointing the call for disobedience, and about the power dynamics of doing so.

Addendum: none of the above applies to fascist assholes like Lunduke going out of their way to be fascist assholes. Fuck him.

@xgranade isn't the site just satire? at least it sounds a lot like it once you scrolll down a bit

@xgranade yes! thank you.

so many people demanding the law be ignored, none of whom would actually face any consequences.

it would be great if there was sufficient resistance to it to force a change, but I’m not going to sit 8000km away and demand other people get sued to resist a law that doesn’t even affect me.

@xgranade and like, if there are ways to support non-compliance, then great.

but also I think it’s reasonable to provide the means for people to comply if they personally don’t feel able to take on the risks of non-compliance. and enabling them to do so is not automatically some malign conspiracy.
