What's your breathing strategy between rounds? - Lemmy.World

I’ve been boxing for about a year and I still gas out by round 3 in sparring. My coach keeps telling me I hold my breath when I throw combos. Between rounds I’ve been trying to recover with deep belly breaths but 60 seconds isn’t enough. Some guys in my gym seem barely winded while I’m dying. What’s your recovery breathing strategy between rounds? And how long did it take before your cardio caught up to your technique?

More cardio in general, including sprints and long runs.

In BJJ we trained that exhale with exertion sound. So when doing something “strong” force an exhale so you’re forced to breathe in. It’s what I think of most with boxers making that sound as they strike.
