Chat, I got less than a week to make a decision

Do I just go for it or not?

open_slate: A Powerful and Private 2-in-1 Tablet by Brax Technologies PBC - Indiegogo

Meet open_slate: a poweful 2-in-1 tablet with modular design, native Linux and Android support and hardware killswitches.

This looks cool as fuck, the hell

I would if there wasn't a reason not to… it seems like they might do regular sales later thoigh if their phone is anything to go by

Ive been wanting to get a proper Linux tablet but from my previous research the field is Dire

Previously the StarLite Mk V was what I was gunning for, but an N300 at the spec I wanted ($800-900) was….yikes. Also didn't review well

People seem to like the Minisforum tablet, but that's wayyyy over a grand.

open_slate, from what I gather, is at or below a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 1. Which is…..not nothing, but not super impressive either. Might be better than the N300 though (x64 software translated to ARM performance? Who knows).
It looks alright, but I am curious at how supported it'll be by other distros that are Not Ubuntu (maybe I'll be forced to touch Arch after all…). Graphene definitely would have a fit, lmao. Hopefully it could get a pmOS port.

No that's legit, I have the same choice paralysis about every crowdfunded thing ever lol.

It does look good, I don't blame you for wanting it. I do too but am definitely not financially poised for it.

I would be kind of worried about replacement batteries in the future, but maybe that's unwarranted? Who knows. But if you don't decide to spring for it now it will probably be ok. There have been more and more incredible tablets coming out lately, I'm sure there will be other chances.
