Explanation: For those of you who were unaware, Adolf Hitler was an aspiring art student in Austria at one point. His talent was… insufficient to get into the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He was rejected twice.

Imagine if he went on to become a mediocre painter who was nonetheless glazed by art professors! What a disaster that would have been! I can’t think of anything worse he could have done with his life!

Imagining the present right now if any of Trumps businesses didnt go bankrupt

Desperation can indeed breed toxicity, but consider the affluent few who have never had to tread water and still choose to subjugate others.

For a lot of us, a kinder world would be enough. For a few others, jealousy and pettiness is their prevailing characteristic, no matter how equal the soceity is.

Im not saying some people are born evil, as I think these are learned behaviours, but that we as a species are somewhat easily predisposed towards corruption and that some of us succumb to it faster than others.

Imagining the present right now if any of Trumps businesses went bankrupt properly

Trump’s failed Television Career is just a modern version of Hitler’s failure to get into art school.

Unfortunately, Trump’s TV career was a screaming success. He had a hit TV show that was unique, and it ran for several seasons.

In addition, and perhaps more importantly, it rehabbed his image from being the poster boy for bumbling, blowhard, failed business hacks, to a successful business professional.

His TV show was the most successful enterprise of his career, and directly led to him becoming president. That’s not failure.

His TV show was the most successful enterprise con of his career…

His flamboyant “You’re fired.” Was important to the gay community at the time.

It wasn’t something you’d expect them to allow on television.

Yeah, I always thought it was really bad form to be celebrating someone being fired. That show not only rehabbed HitlerPig’s reputation, it helped condition the brains of his fans. “I love when he fires them, it’s so funny.” MAGAs are ALL sociopaths.

And Pedophiles. Just had to get that in.

Wonderful read
The fact that this is posted on a Fiero forum is hilarious to me! My first car.
I would go back to the '70s with a case of hair conditioner. It would revolutionize rock’n’roll.

SilverFox seems to have a lot of clout/power compared to the other travelers. No one seems to undo SF’s edits, so I’m guessing there’s more than just a hierarchy of trust there, but that SF has some kind of actual power to incapacify other travellers.

I’m guessing it’s not a master reset switch (like the film Primer), since they have to physically go there and extricate the assailants physically. I’m guessing it’s some kind of physical power, or at least meticulous planning in grabbing the assailants before they commit the crime.

SilveFox makes it sound easy though, like herding children at best, so I’m thinking more along the lines of some kind of extra power/tech to teleport too(?) which would facilitate the placement of certain items (goats, olive oil, etc.) and give them a huge upperhand in grabbing travellers who probably have to do some degree of walking.

Or maybe SF’s device can travel multiple times, whereas other users have to use it more sparingly, limiting the damage they can do

They are immune from bootstrap paradoxes because they are their own mom and dad.

Oh wow, I had no idea Predestination was based on this Heinlein story. I had a low opinion of Heinlein before this, but can now say that he was less regressive than I credited him
Seriously tho, he’d likely be replaced with another extremist. It was period of Iron boot dictators in Europe. You could get someone even worse.
This was such a good read, although I must say please keep all time travel related posts to the “time travel shenanigans” subsection, come on guys.

I have had a story idea of a similar time travel concept (with a fake evil person) where each chapter is basically “Ok, thenworld is ending, but we will time travel and stop this despot.”. Then they send say, a woman back. Next chapter, "Ghe world is ending, we shall send someone back to stop this despot and his wife, "him, his wife, and his manservant, “hum, his wife, and his respected general, and his manservant.”

You get the idea. Basically, everytime travel goes back and gets seduced into helping the evil guy, and each new timeline is unaware of previous attempts, but the historical records mentions “new people”.

Huh, his paintings are actually pretty nice. Thanks for making me go and see them.
Ironically, his paintings are probably seen and analyzed more than any of his colleagues’.

He wasn’t a quality artist, mediocre at best. His architectural paintings have lots of detail, but things like parallel lines in walls are off, and so is perspective.

His renderings of humans was terrible. You may see some landscapes or buildings, but never a portrait.

There was a time when learning to draw was a part of a well-rounded education, so having basic artistic skills wasn’t unusual. Hitler’s may have been slightly better than average, but he clearly didn’t have the natural skill to be a professional.

Think of your school orchestra. The first chair players are probably pretty good. In a Band & Orchestra Competition, they could probably play a pretty impressive solo, but they are still a long ways from getting a chair in any major orchestra in the world. Thats the level that Hitler’s art was at.

If I recall correctly he just cadged off others’ work. It was popular at the time for artists needing some cash to go on location and paint postcards of popular landmarks and sell them to tourists. Hitler simply bought these postcards and copied them into his own art so he wouldn’t have to go paint them himself. He had no real personal style, his work was very conventional.
They lack a human touch. They seem less like paintings done by someone who feels feelings and more like snapshots that just encapsulate the scenery and nothing else. There is no emotional aura.

He failed already at the basics… most of his paintings look nicely but odd… and than you realize he had no idea about perspective, while trying to do realistics paintings.
