The pivot to AI must be going great.

All Microsoft has to do to keep users happy, really, is provide a stable environment for games and other apps. I’ve encountered very few people who get excited about Windows. But people love gaming. They need to get work done. Manage their photos, digital music, etc.

But, I guess, just providing a stable environment doesn’t correspond with “shareholder value” so… Windows users get this instead. https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2026/03/20/our-commitment-to-windows-quality/

@jzb That middle paragraph is basically my entire relationship with Windows. And I am increasingly hating it, particularly because someone over in Redmond has apparently decided to keep trying to force me to use an e-mail to log on, which does not fit my preferred local-only account workflow.

As the saying goes "You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone."
