MikeNMAfter listening to the conversation on this week's connected, I think that the first truly one device to run your whole computing life from phone to desktop is going to be one of the Linux brands scaling down to make a phone.
Google seems to be running headlong into alienating most of the FOSS folks who use their platform as is.
So the real question is that will that find the entire market for that kind of device, and if not which of the big phone makers will clone it. I think Apple could do an end to end device better than anyone, but I think that they have least incentive to do so.

While would could theoretically hook it up to any old USB-C/Thunderbolt dock, Apple can sell you on a studio display, magic trackpad, and a keyboard as an upsell for your phone now. Or some even more proprietary mutant magic keyboard with a screen.
