Neighbor mowed down my front yard and took out some native plants I had just planted because he’s selling his house and didn’t like that my yard had some weeds. When I went over to ask if it was them, the wife admitted it was her husband and I told her I didn’t appreciate it. She got emotional saying she was emotional because she’s moving away from her longtime home.
She finally apologized when she realized nothing she said moved me from repeating that it was wrong for her husband to do that. She offered to pay for the plants but I told her it wasn’t the monetary value of the plants that mattered, but that her husband came onto my property without permission. It’s ruined the many years of neighborly trust but I guess it doesn’t matter since they’re leaving.
So, am I the asshole for making these entitled, privileged jerks feel like I’ve ruined their memories of the place they called home for many years? /s
