The US Constitution assumes that the three branches of Federal government would fight tooth and nail to hold on to their own powers, not collude with each other like they do today.

What the hell do we do with this problem? How could we amend the Constitution to prevent such a thing?

urgently, overturn Citizens United

Then enshrine TERMS and AGE LIMITS for any and every elected or directly vetted public office.

Erase presidential pardon powers.

It'd be a good start.

Make lobbying illegal. Make stock trading illegal for legislators.

Establish mandatory financial disclosures, random inspections/audits, mandatory inspection/audit at end of term(s) for every member of Congress, Circuit/Appeals/SCOTUS and Cabinet. Zero exceptions.
