YiddishMcSquidishDespite having tattoos and piercings (and being vaxxed) I am pretty open about being afraid of needles with whoever is about to poke me. No countdowns! I’m not gonna flinch. Just fucking put it in me and let’s get this over with!
I’m not afraid of needles, but I don’t like to watch the initial jab. Once it’s in, if doesn’t hurt and isn’t bleeding, it doesn’t bother me.
Due to an ER visit and upcoming surgery, I’ve had to have several runs of various blood draws, injections, and IV lines recently. I don’t love them, but I’ve managed; I’ve also been surprised by the range of skill levels on display by the various nurses, phlebotomists, and even doctors. The one who gave me an injection yesterday said it’s only a three week course to qualify. (Not sure if that last part was for their facility, for the region, or more widespread.)
