What's the deal with Crust King Khann? - Feddit.it

My god! I have been stuck here for hours! I know there’s a shortcut after the third gauntlet, but I can’t even beat the second! I only beat it once and then died in the first wave of the next one! High halls was a piece of cake compared to this, at least you didn’t have overlapping waves and so much area denial. And those flying things are fucking annoying, they are always barely out of reach! Why is everyone always ranting about high halls and not this? Please, tell me it’s the last time I have to deal with these ridiculous gauntlets. Or at least that there will be checkpoints. This is like a forced boss rush but worse because at least bosses are fun.

This is the only time you’ll face something like this, so don’t worry (more, that is)

About the actual boss fight

On the other hand, Khann himself is really easy. I don’t know if that’s good or bad for you, but for me—having tried to beat the gauntlets like 30 times—being able to defeat him on the first try felt like a gift

Have you tried using other crests? In my experience, certain crests make some fights ridiculously easy, while others can make them nearly impossible. The Wanderer’s Crest worked for me with this task, it let me take out enemies quickly and avoid getting overwhelmed.

I’m using wanderer+longclaw, but I also tried reaper, other crests I’m not really good at them, I only forced myself to use architect for the unravelled. I’m not sure which is better. With reaper I rarely get to land more than one hit, but I do get to land a pogo more often on the flying bastards

I’d recommend ditching the Longclaw (it doesn’t make that much of a difference anyway) and focusing on staying alive. I seem to recall using the Plasmid, the injector Band, the memory cristal and the Fractured Mask at some point to proceed (it’s been months since I did that fight, sorry my fuzzy memory).

My logic was: you have to stay alive and keep your health maxed out for as long as possible, use silk only to cure and beat the enemies either quickly or without getting too much damage.

I finally fucking did it! What made the difference was: using pale nails, a lot, mostly for flying shrimps; ascendant’s grip for when they remove the floor and you have to shoot at flying enemies; reaper’s crest; dumping tacks where the alitas spawns in the third gauntlet. I didn’t kill Khann on the very first attempt right after the gauntlet, but I did it on the second.

Sidenote, I decided to get pale nails for this fight so I went up the cradle, but once there I told myself “now that we are here let’s just finish the Mr Mushroom thing” only to discover the Path of Regular Discomfort. Where I got stuck once again, until I swallowed my pride and went back to buy the ascendant’s grip. Which turned out to be a life saver for Khann.

Side sidenote: reaper’s crest is amazing against the pinstress. It’s like, made specifically for that fight.

Side side sidenote: I imagine you are not that interested in my quest. But I just wanted to write this somewhere.

Oh, You didn’t had the Pale Nails? I think I forgot to mention that by the time I went to defeat Khann, I had already found or bought almost all the tools and upgrades. I’m terrible at gaming, and usually, what I can’t achieve through skill, I make up for by finding upgrades to make things easier for myself.

You didn’t have Ascendant’s Grip? I’m surprised you didn’t lose your mind during the Mr. Mushroom mission. I almost did, and I already had Ascendant’s Grip at that point.

Reaper’s Crest is one of my favorite crests. it’s so versatile, and I think I also defeated the Pintress with it.

Anyway, I’m glad you managed to defeat Khann. Is that the last heart you needed, or do you have more left?

I usually do the same as you, but sometimes I try to follow the “regular” progression a bit more, so I didn’t rush to get the pale nails before.

I had to get it because I was loosing my mind. And imagine the rage when after reaching the top I discovered that in one of my grip-less attempts I failed at literally the last jump. I try to delay buying tools because they are expensive, and I don’t really like most of them.

I only have the green Prince’s heart, but I want all four. Though I have literally just beaten Seth.

So you haven’t beaten Karmelita yet? Great! Her battle is one of my favorites in the whole game, it’s so much fun!
