It is the year of our lord 2026 and it still takes me twelve button presses on my remote to switch my TV from playing one source of content to another source of content. Unacceptable.
@prism I just usually end up getting frustrated and yelling at mine. It's a Fire TV so has Alexa
@Bri Mine is a Google TV. I will say, "play this in x app," it brings up the show page, I have to select the app and then the one account and then the episode. Then if I go to watch something on youtube, I have to do that all over again to resume what I was watching before. If I voicecast or use the app it makes no difference. I don't understand why there is no app switcher. It's such a solved problem.
@prism Yeah. TV interfaces are just, really terrible.
@Bri @prism See this is one of the many reasons why my wife thinks I'm a keeper. Before we moved in here, I spent a month and a half working with a home automation consultant, getting the hardware and UX right. Now, she just tells the house to play what ever channel she wants. If necessary, it turns on the TV, selects the Xfinity box, we have a sort of DNS thing where it maps the channel name to the channel number, it switches to the channel and plays the output on the Sonos closest to where she spoke the command from. Genius!
