because this keeps happening:

when you're procrastinating until the last possible moment so you're adrenalined and motivated enough, that's fine and dandy -

as long as the task is something that doesn't involve delegation to other people.

it's unfair to tell someone they have to deliver asap because _you_ get your best ideas under pressure.

not everyone works like this or enjoys this. i'd wager most of us like to be notified well in advance that work is coming up.
