I am getting to hear lots of reports that AI is taking videos from hard working creators, changing things, adding new pics and then they are being uploaded and getting more views than the originals. If this continues Youtube will be dead pretty soon.... like FB is dying!
#boost #aislop #youtube
@3dcandy I wish that was true but unfortunately the average person is not as morally opposed to AI slop as actual creators (And those who actively support creators) are. Plus YT is so ingrained in our current social media echosphere that it'll never truly "die". There's rife opportunity for a competitor video hosting site that doesn't fear and abhor sex workers and queer creators to replace them, but sites cost money and money requires advertisers who hate sex workers so I doubt it'll happen.
@toplessTopics I said the same about FB and it is going, going, almost gone...
I appreciate what you say but creators will just make it that videos can only be viewed with a sub/paid for and it will disappear pretty damn quick
@toplessTopics also just to add that I do a lot of work with clients with hosting, servers and self-hosting and currently 99% of my queries are about how to self-host AI to do exactly what I fear will happen.... and thos people who have left FB and the others are now leaving youtube or not using it as much because of AI. SO yep maybe not die but definitely become less relevant and useful
@3dcandy I used to think FB was dying because I only see a small handful of friends post anything, even if I switch to Friends Feed. But when I posted some sad family news the response and messages from far and wide suggests that although people don’t post their own stuff much there anymore, they still regularly view it and use it, if only in a passive way.
@ginger_tosser I agree it is still used but not anywhere how it used to be used. As the rot sets in it will just become less and less relevant. It is also a platform defined by age ie it is a platform for old people. Younger people go nowhere near it. However it is like it was for myspace and friends reunited here in the UK etc. they were good, then great then declined and then all of a sudden abandoned. It will be like Nokia
@ginger_tosser also I have to add that this is all in a general decline of how people interact and use the tinternet. Pretty much everything is less busy that before. Especially in my age group - a lot of things have pretty much dropped off a cliff
@3dcandy that’s probably because the internet has undergone significant enshittification. Either that or we are just nostalgic for the old days of html 1.0
@ginger_tosser oh I totally agree - it has. And I am 100% certain that "free" accounts like FB will be gone soon as well. FB treats the user as the product - like many - and it is this that has turned a vast amount of people off using it nowadays
