Sam Altman: “We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter.”

Meaning: We stole all your knowledge , writing, and art, and now we’re gonna put a meter on it and sell it back to you. You’re welcome.”

In response to that post about Altman’s ‘future of intelligence', @Kierkegaanks suggested I watch the movie Idiocracy. (Thank you!)
I did last night, and I’d recommend it.

It's technically a comedy, but also a disturbingly accurate preview of the United States and its proud, ongoing project of engineering stupidity.

@Climatehistories @Kierkegaanks I hate the eugenicist intro - idiocracy is happening before our eyes not because of genetics / population dynamics ("nature"), but due to societal ("nurture") effects. Both the idiots in charge, and their voter/user base are not inbred, they have some decent level of education and are not extremely poor.

@rubinjoni @Kierkegaanks Agreed, it's not the best introduction.

Still, the point connects to a broader issue.
The basic ability to reason, decide, and choose, particularly when it comes to women deciding what happens to their own bodies.
