wooeeoo~ #TARDISclub
I was at my desk with my coffee with a mere 30 seconds to spare. #TARDISclub
Oh, right, cool roboid. Oh, right, Richard Mace. #TARDISclub

I listened to the first of those Eric Saward Richard Mace radio plays this week.

The play was alright, for a fairly standard murder mystery type of thing, but it's really just the character in name only — for a start, he lives 222 years later, and is a snobby actor instead of a boisterous playwright. #TARDISclub

It's nice to spend a little more time in the TARDIS than was typical for previous eras. #TARDISclub

"Adric! What's the matter?"

whatever's the matter, adric is either a leading expert on it or a small, whining baby about it #TARDISclub

Adric fully ready to "Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" this situation. #TARDISclub
Why are they being that careful around the TARDIS. They don't know about cameras, surely. #TARDISclub
They achieved the iconic voice of the Terileptil by sticking a guy in a rubber suit and having him talk while inside it. #TARDISclub
The Terileptil Leader's lightly bumped Richard Mace across the room? He's gotta go. #TARDISclub
Adric has only child energy while Nyssa has big sister energy. And she /is/ always right! #TARDISclub
Note the presence of the sonic screwdriver. #TARDISclub
Note now its destruction. #TARDISclub
JNT, thinking the sonic screwdriver too narratively easy, wanted it explicitly destroyed to get rid of it — this is genuinely the last time we see the sonic screwdriver until the 1996 TV movie. #TARDISclub

> surely dr who just has a bunch of them lying around

yeah, you'd think so, wouldn't you, and yet #TARDISclub

So, Adric is always on the villain's side, Tegan always gets mind controlled by them, what's next, a companion who's explicitly there to kill Dr Who? #TARDISclub
As cliffhangers go, both rat cage opening and threat of plague are fairly distinct, I'll admit. #TARDISclub
 wooeeoo~ #TARDISclub

"This carnage isn't necessary."

dr who reviews the second Venom movie #TARDISclub

Davison really does sell the "don't do it" energy here. #TARDISclub

"You can't pick a lock with a safety pin!"

I've seen that lockpicking lawyer on YouTube do more with less, honestly. #TARDISclub

"Which is the nearest city?"
"London."
"We'll never find them there."

I dunno, I feel like the fishman and the skull guy will stand out. #TARDISclub

Terileptils, big printer paper purchasers, are they? #TARDISclub
Adric would've been less useless if he'd done nothing. #TARDISclub
Now, Nyssa, she gets shit done. #TARDISclub
rip cool robot. #TARDISclub

"What's that?"
"Help, if we're lucky."

Adric, if we're not. #TARDISclub

Nyssa seems absolutely unconvinced by the whole, like, concept of Adric. #TARDISclub

"This isn't possible."
"That's what I thought at first. But it is."

thanks, Adric, for your *looks down at notes* sentence #TARDISclub

Richard Mace in the TARDIS just /works/, he makes /sense/, this is where he's meant to /be/. #TARDISclub
This has suddenly become "Sinners" in the style of "Hamnet." #TARDISclub
A fire? In London? Surely that can be comfortably contained. #TARDISclub
What year was it again? #TARDISclub
A fire at a... baker's? #TARDISclub

"I shall stay here and fight the fire! A much quieter occupation!"

So long Richard Mace. 🫡 #TARDISclub

"I have a sneaking suspicion this fire should be allowed to run its course."

*looks straight at the camera* Dr Who directly, personally caused the 1666 Great Fire of London. #TARDISclub

I'll miss Richard Mace more than I've missed several actual companions. #TARDISclub
Next week: Both parts of "Black Orchid", the final pure historical! #TARDISclub
I think I enjoyed "The Visitation" more than I think it's particularly good — the Terileptil threat is largely pretty unmemorable, but the historical stuff, and Richard Mace specifically, are good fun. #TARDISclub
