Im saying goodbye to my best girl of 17 years today. My heart is shattered. There will never be another like her. Doah was the best companion, went on a million adventures and guarded my mom while she was ill. She gave me unconditional love and endless hours of total joy. She's my whole heart.

Before her last day on earth today, you should know she had bacon, a bit of hard cider, she rolled in the grass and sun and sat by a river. She was cuddled and loved on as she ate watermelon and bananas. She felt sun on her face and is going out like the real one she is.

My eyelids have been swollen for days. Eating meals without her at my feet is unbearable. Not waking up and first thing rushing to her is bizarre. The world is more gray today. I know time will heal it but this is the worst.

@brandibuchman.bsky.social I lost my dog at the end of Sep and I was a wreck for weeks. I just adopted a new one a week ago and while he has great potential, I find myself sad that he’s not my old dog. As long as you remember her she’ll always be with you.
