Signal Boost: If you are willing to fix any of the #Wayland related issues I describe in https://michael.stapelberg.ch/posts/2026-01-04-wayland-sway-in-2026/, I am willing to sponsor the hardware you need for it, e.g. high-res monitor, GPU, PC, etc. and/or pay a bounty for the fix itself.

See https://lobste.rs/s/5pkjai/wayland_set_linux_desktop_back_by_10_years#c_4cpf8q for details and reach out; thanks in advance.

My goal is that #Linux works better, but I can’t do it alone. Let’s improve it together!

@zekjur thank you so much! I love initiative like this. I wouldn't be able to do that but I'm sharing! This is awesome :)
@[email protected] I refuse to boost obvious flame bate. Also sick and tired of reading endless complaints. Kind of disappointing that lobste.rs amplifies this.

@petko The problem with Linux has been absurdly varied experince based on varied hardware and varied use cases. And it's not like Linux Foundation gives a damn about any of these coa it's run by corps. So yes! It is upto people like @zekjur to bring this up.

Not to mention, he is not just complaining. He is committing to fix as much as he can. And is even ready sponsor hardware to the folks who want to take a serious swing at it. That's not mere complaining is it?

@zekjur
Curious, I've never had an issue with 4K or 5K monitors in any wayland (long time user of sway/wlroots and more recently plasma wayland on some machines). In fact Wayland was the only decent choice cause fractional scaling in X always sucked in my experience.

Maybe it is NVIDIA causing the issue for you? I have refused to buy their hardware for over a decade.
