zivipublic transit should be free cuz if its not then that basically means moving around while poor is a criminal offense, and that sounds stupid right. thats because it is stupid

@zaire what if you paid for public transit only if you could? like being not being fully free, but if you couldn't afford a ticket, it wouldn't be punishable.
@gettie if you do some sort of enforcement anyway thats just a waste of resources and effort and brain cells since you could just move that expense into peoples taxes (and have those be paid predominantly by the rich)
@zaire the way i thought of it is similar on how DIY projects are being run here, where people can give some money but it's not required if you can't afford that. although i can agree that this couldn't really work in that case. and considering that we all pay taxes, yeah... i agree that public transport should be free.
although not all services are public everywhere, unfortunately. for example, the bus services in most of the cities in the country i live in aren't public services, as they are being run by local for-profit companies.

@gettie basic nessesities like public transit shouldnt be businesses or ran like such. capitalising on people being reliant on a service to live is pure evil
in a better world those services like most things would be ran for the fulfillment that comes from helping others. but even in this capitalist, statist world, it’s counterproductive to collect taxes and require and enforce a separate payment for public transport
