A question for the assembled wisdom of Mastodon, esp the #CovidIsNotOver team: what's the quietest air filter you'd recommend? I'm looking for something that can be run in a large living room where 5-7 friends get together with acoustic instruments for a few hours of jamming.
@jeneralist
Take a look at https://cleanairstars.com/filters/
You can filter by the CADR and decibles.
@jeneralist
Also - several smaller filters might provide the same total CADR with less noise - and good for a situation where you don't know who might be exhaling viral aerosols

@jeneralist I would look at CleanAirKits. Here's a review testing one model and showing how quiet it is: https://housefresh.com/cleanairkits-luggable-xl-review/

And that model is sized to cover 7 people.

Basically all CleanAirKits models are quiet and great though. https://www.cleanairkits.com/

CleanAirKits Luggable XL-7 review — best quiet air purifier?

Our in-house tests show the Luggable XL-7 is a great choice for classrooms, offices and rooms where a quiet environment is important.

@skyfaller @jeneralist my cleanairkits are quiet. Love them.

@jeneralist

Acoustic instruments aren't that quiet, if I remember correctly.
If I imagine a cello, a violin, a piano, plus maybe a guitar or bouzouki they'd outsound an airfilter easily.
Maybe you can also have one or two windows open for cross airing.

I use a medium sized Trotec airfilter but have max. 3 people plus a small dog in my living room.

Trotec are good, very efficient and not too loud even on full power.

@fae2535
Usually some mix of guitar, mandolin, bass.

And they're quiet compared to their electric counterparts, usually; but you're right, that's not the same as quiet.
