Today, regrettably, I must do none quilting except to maybe rest a little bit, as I have two mountains of ironing to go through. If nothing else I have to rearrange them like a textile-based game of Tetris to fit any of it anywhere, since there's probably like five machine-fulls of it just languishing on that little bin there, and the cats have already knocked it over once and it doesn't need to happen again!

#TheFuckingIroning #TheFuckingLaundry

In an effort to possibly make the ironing go smoother but also to procrastinate, I've arranged the laundry by type, and am now exhausted enough that I'll need to sit down between each type so I might as well tally it up...

13 towels, 2 linen nightdresses, 3 aprons, 3 pillowcases, 4 button up shirts, 3 Victorian drawers, 4 undershirts or chemises, 2 petticoats, 5 walking skirts or house skirts, assorted other small items. 🫠

I know one of those skirts takes me a full 20 minutes to carefully iron on a good day, and haphazardly it's still at least 10 minutes! Ah I feel exhausted.

"But Sini, surely you're not ironing everything you ever wash?"

Oh no, not at all! This is just all the things from the past probably a couple of weeks that I've been meaning to iron but haven't! I've done this to myself!

Oh fucking hell. 😆 Oh, the laundry...

Whenever I make anything I mean to wash later, I pre-wash anything that can be washed, and some things that shouldn't be... So when I put my nice and elaborately constructed #TheBurntOchreSkirt into the wash I expected nothing to happen, or perhaps the linen outer to shrink a little bit... But no, the cotton lining has shrunk! Not so much that it can't be worn and ignored because it would be so so much work to fix, but wow is that gonna irk me.

Currently taking a little break from the ironing, but thus far I have ironed:
One apron, 2 petticoats, 4 walking skirts. On paper that doesn't sound like a lot, but the skirts and petticoats were definitely the largest, most textile containing and most fiddly things to iron so I feel I've made good progress.

All I want is to sit down for a little bit and then maybe do some recreational ironing, which would be pressing these seams of these quilt blocks which I've sewn to unwind. 😅

@sinituulia Oof! Bad luck. Can you sneak in some extra panels somehow or would that irk you too?

@molybdomantic Oh, should have been more clear, it's not really changed the circumference which there is a lot of, and the volume would hide any little rippling anyway... But no, there's a little vertical sag between the main body and the tall hem stiffening bit!

I don't think I could even take a good photo of it because the fabric pattern is so loud, but still. I know it's there!

@molybdomantic (I'd have to unpick the entire flatlining from every skirt panel, after unpicking the entire hem and hem stiffening, so I don't think I'm gonna)
@sinituulia I feel your pain.
