Sonequa Martin-Green (born 21 March 1985; age 40) is an American actress who plays Michael Burnham, the lead character in Star Trek: Discovery. Martin-Green has said she wasn't a Star Trek fan growing up, though she was aware of how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. convinced Nichelle Nichols to stay on the original series.
