🚨 THIS IS IT!!!

Governor JB Pritzker : "just dropped the mic calling for 'Project 2029'.

A blueprint to reverse the damage, hold accountable, and prosecute those in Trump’s administration who broke the law, abused power, and attacked our democracy.

While restoring our democracy and serving everyday Americans, not billionaires."

That’s the path forward. πŸ’™ ✊

@LibertyOverGov Way to go!

The only path forward to healing the nation.

@LibertyOverGov

Okay, but hear me out: Project 2027?

(It doesn't feel like we can afford to wait two years.)

@cavyherd @LibertyOverGov We're not waiting. We are building a foundation right now to implement Project 2029. It starts with this year's primaries and mid term elections. A new Democratic Congress next year may not be able
to remove trump, since 67 votes in the Senate seems insurmountable, but at the least with Dems in the majority trump's legislative goals can be thwarted.
We didn't get into our current circumstances overnight, it will take time and effort to right the ship.
@Barbramon1 @cavyherd @LibertyOverGov And hopefully those who were thrice fooled into voting for the felon have at least learned a lesson.
@RegGuy @cavyherd @LibertyOverGov Not sure there's hope for triple trumpers. Anyone who voted for him after January 6th has totally discarded reason, ethics, morals, and more.
However, we are many and they are few. πŸ’™
@Barbramon1 @cavyherd @LibertyOverGov Yeah, that's probably true. But the turncoats from 2024 are beginning to become legion.
@RegGuy @cavyherd @LibertyOverGov Anyone who is not a hard core maga cultist has some hope of recovery.πŸ’™

@Barbramon1 @LibertyOverGov

(67? I thought only 60 votes were required? Or is 67 for impeachment?)

Going further, we ultimately need to address the structural elements in US culture that made this all possible (innevitable?). (Settler colonial capitalist patriarchy, I'm looking at you.)

I hope we can make good progress while the problems are still clear and fresh in everyone's mind. Like, you know, that small matter of enforceability....

@cavyherd @LibertyOverGov 67 votes are needed to convict and remove. That comes after the House has impeached.
US needs a very deep self examination. I have advocated for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission such as was used in South Africa after apartheid ended.

@Barbramon1 @LibertyOverGov

Ah, okay, I thought the difference in vote count might be something like that. Just hadn't heard it named explicitly before. Thank you.

Oh yes, absolutely, Truth & Reconciliation. At bare minimum.

@cavyherd @LibertyOverGov That would be just the start. Anyone who is not familiar with the South African Truth and Reconciliation experience should learn more about it. It exposed horrific atrocities, but laid the groundwork for dialogue and healing.

@Barbramon1 @LibertyOverGov

OH sigh. Like I need more to study up on....

...add that to the list....

Got any recs on where to start?

@cavyherd @LibertyOverGov There is a good documentary that I watched years ago on PBS, "Facing the Truth". I think you can find it on the internet.
From my own experience, learning history is of tremendously important. It makes us better citizens and better humans. Just don't overwhelm yourself in the process. πŸ’™

@Barbramon1 @LibertyOverGov

Ah! I think I found it!

Yes. As stressful as it is, Knowing is better than Not Knowing. (I'm depending heavily on Heather Cox Richardson to maintain any semblance of mental health, these days.)

@cavyherd @LibertyOverGov Yes, HCR is a great source of knowledge and wisdom. Her demeanor is calm, and her perspective on history reminds us that we have overcome crises before and will again.
@LibertyOverGov I hope there's a big independent left-wing component victory over there, in addition to the dems, I don't trust the dems not to just fall back into neoliberal bullshit and doing nothing.
Main thing is the Republicans need to be exterminated.

@megatronicthronbanks @LibertyOverGov I guess you weren't around for Obama's first two years in office. You have to vote for the D regardless of whether you like them or not. Primaries are the place to choose who runs, general elections are for pulling the D lever and not bitching about how they aren't left enough.

We've had enough of the whiners do that now for the past three elections to put the felon into power twice. Now Vote D!

@RegGuy @LibertyOverGov I'm not in the USA, we have our own neoliberal issues in Australia! πŸ˜‰ But good luck!!
@RegGuy @LibertyOverGov And yes Obama was your first real dem president since Carter
@LibertyOverGov Okay, but y'all need to do it like you mean it and not some quavering milquetoast half-assedness.
