Jensen Huang: Nvidia “100% in Israel” despite war - Lemmy

“I’ve been asked several times, are we still considering being in Israel? We are 100% in Israel. We are 100% behind the families there. We are 100% in the Middle East,” said Jensen Huang, as Nvidia moved to reassure employees and investors that the war in the region has not altered its long-term commitment. Nvidia has significantly expanded its presence in Israel since its $6.9 billion acquisition of Mellanox Technologies in 2019, which established a major hub for the company in the country. Today, Nvidia employs around 6,000 people in Israel, and the country plays a central role in the development of several of its key technologies, including advanced chips and networking systems. The company is also planning a major new campus in Kiryat Tivon, expected to employ up to 10,000 workers. Announcing the project last year, Huang said: “Israel is home to some of the world’s most brilliant technologists and has become NVIDIA’s second home.

I hate that I have to have a card from them to be able to do my job. Please, quick some CUDA competition. … No, not you Intel. You’re also balls deep in Israel
Intel GPUs are being purchased as a middle finger to the industry like the MacBook neo. We hate them, just less.
I hope this gets mature enough: github.com/vosen/ZLUDA

wow ! thanks for the link this is awesome
Isn’t this dead? I remember some news about it from last year that this was being sponsored by AMD and then they backtracked from it, so the main dev also dropped it.

It has been revived by the developer who started rebuilding it with code dating from before AMD’s funding.

This isn’t the end for the ZLUDA project. Its contributors remain committed to rebuilding the project from a “pre-AMD” codebase and note funding for continued development is in prospect.

As you can see from the commits, it is still active. The website’s FAQ is still secretive regarding the current part behind the funding:

What organization is funding ZLUDA development?

  • This will be revealed in due time.
What's going on with AMD funding a CUDA translation layer, then nuking it?

We guess the House of Zen wants all you HIP kids to ROCm out with its own runtimes instead
