Most instances are run by a team. Not all moderation decisions are made by one person

I understand that people can be mad about decisions but getting angry at an admin who doesn’t always know what’s it about does not help

Not everything is decided by an admin

Most of not all moderators are volunteers who don’t get paid and try their best

Of course we make mistakes since we are human and not robots

A part of my job is fixing those mistakes

@stux Sometimes the admin isn’t even a moderator in any capacity. They just maintain the systems and let the people-people handle people.

@stux @lucybeahere Until you sniff the scent of incentivized favors. If you are making contributions to an instance moderators show favor … then it is time to launch your own instance

@stux That's fair but then there should be a response when people appeal moderation actions. I was banned a while ago for what I believe was a mistake. Permanent ban on a first 'offense'. I appealed, mailed, but was ghosted. I'm still a bit mad about nobody being there to help me. Even if I understand moderation is a shit job where people will always say you're wrong, it still sucked to be kicked off of a community you thought you belonged to so unceremoniously.
