Why aren't Americans living longer? - feddit.org

Lemmy

Why would they be?

Prior evidence, combined with our findings, shows that we really need to think holistically if we are to improve US life expectancy. Reducing social inequalities and improving resources for socioeconomically disadvantaged groups could help lessen stress and its harmful effects on health, improve dietary behavior, and reduce substance use.

lol see we are fucked

We know about how extreme the divide between have and have-not is in the US, so to me the more interesting question is why aren’t our rich people outliving the middle class in other industrialized countries? Even when you lop off the poor and disenfranchised in the US the rest of us still have poor outcomes compared to, for example, Western Europe.
You would thing the winning combination of an inhumane healthcare system, car dependent infrastructure, mountains of processed food, and economic and political nosedive would all point to longevity.
Because their masters steal healthcare and spread misinformation.
Bad diets, gluttonous behavior and sloth.
