Under senior designer Eva Rosencrans (1901–1994), the internationally known New York-based label founded in 1929 by Ben Reig took United’s uniform in a new direction as the jet age progressed. This winter suit, worn from 1963 to 1968, is made in soft bouclé worsted wool created in a new color named Blue Vision. Distinctly more feminine than previous fitted-suit uniforms, the modified box-shape jacket with a bracelet length sleeve and a soft rolled collar is matched with an A-line skirt.

“Fashion In Flight: A History of Airline Uniform Design” was on display, from June 16, 2016 to January 08, 2017 in the International Terminal and the Aviation Museum and Library. See our exhibition catalog online at: https://bit.ly/FashioninFlight
