We are missing out on the extraordinary potential of our technology. Rather than getting trapped by the techno bros, we can individualize our experiences. Solar, or wind, can take us off being tied to a grid. Solid state Batteries are just over the horizon.
Central bank backed digital currencies can remove our dependence on banks, especially on their credit cards as payments could process individual to individual. I could support a public stock offering directly. No broker needed; unless that's what I chose. I could loan funds directly to individuals along with thousands of others minimizing personal risk while expanding funding options.
We can take advantage of the fact that digitally we, the %99, can collectively make the %1 irrelevant.

But, just as there is incredible resistance to renewables energy, the resistance to personalization of currencies will be extreme.

@CTHW I just don't expect that individualization to go well, because TECH CAN'T FIX SOCIAL PROBLEMS and the Problem is what people do to other people, not that they do it with tech or money…

@kkarhan
I don't expect it to.
I expect people using technology that gives us individual, personal control will enable us to widen our personal influence/impact.
If all people were kind & compassionate there would be no issues.
We aren't.
Idiots will gather with idiots
But so too will progressives
The POTENTIAL for using the tech is here, now.
It's up to us how it evolves. It could take generations.

Once again, in spite of the entrenched interests of banks, tech bros, authoritarianism governments, etc. central bank backed digital currencies can be a game changer.

@CTHW Problem is that people are for the most part #TechIlliterates & #MediaIlliterates.

@kkarhan @torproject

People, I think gravitate to that which is the easiest. Sometimes it takes a while to figure that out. Electric vehicles is, I think an example of this. In spite of the organized campaign against them people are gravitating to electric because they are so much easier to maintain and last longer (also an example of a need to defeat the built in tracking).
Central Bank backed digital will make paying taxes so much easier and from there ease-of-use should prevail.
Consumers will use that kind of utility the same way we now use electricity. Turn the light on; pay the bill. Users don't need to be literate in the way things work so long as they do.
It's not a panacea and never will be but ease of use and personal control will motivate users while scaring the techies now in control.
I hope Prime Minister Carney 🇨🇦 recognizes the social and economic value of CB backed digital.
