I wish that mastodon (or fedi in general) had more fine-grained options for post visibility.

Like making a post only visible for a subset of my followers (without mentioning all of them)... e.g. for everyone on a specific list or something.

(Or the classic: reply to some post with "visible for my followers and the followers of the person I'm replying to".)

And I wish there was a way to only "follow" someone's public/unlisted posts, but not see their followers-only posts.

I notice that I'm sometimes not posting things here that I would kinda like to post... specifically thinking about nude photos right now, which I'm holding back...

because I have people following me here who regularly boost or reply (positively) to the kind of accounts that post a bunch of stolen porn pictures.

I feel conflicted about kicking them out of my followers because then I'd lose the chance to reach them with posts that might change their mind about stuff like that 🤔

But I wonder if that's just me trying to take on more responsibility than I should ... like, is anyone who makes me feel uncomfortable now really ever gonna learn something from my posts?
@flashzelle I think probably not, and that feeling comfortable to post the way you want to is the important thing. It should be *your* space, where you're free to be yourself.
