bird encounters thread :)
sparrow on the hedge — got a nice closeup look at it before it hopped farther away

cardinal in the tree!!

- one thing i selfishly love about winter is that i can spot the birds so much more easily in the bare branches than when the leaves are out (selfish because that's probably not good for the bird)

- it's so exciting to actually see a northern cardinal because i'm not used to seeing colourful birds like that! sparrow, pigeon, duck, goose, yes, but to see a shock of red in the trees, when i happen to be at a good angle so the bird isn't completely backlit by the sky — what a treat!

love to see little nests up in the trees
- there were some huge gusts throughout the night a few days ago. was happy to see that the big nest up in the tree survived :)
- was walking with my partner this morning and we heard a bird. i said that's a blue jay :) sure enough, a little later, we saw a blue jay fly through and land on a sill of a house nearby :)
- what a pastime! just to be able to listen and look up and around and be rewarded for it all the time
@kayserifserif so much yes! and familiarity with local birds means additional joy from recognizing uncommon or visiting birds in the area. 🐦‍⬛🖤
