I’m just a dumb normie, so when it comes to understanding things like data centers in space I have to rely on shady sources like... astrophysicists

But/so if even I, a simple peon, have access to the science-based knowledge that *physics itself* is a fundamental hurdle, surely the billionaires do too?

Which leads me to conclude: they don’t *actually* believe data-centers-in-space is a feasible idea; it’s a MacGuffin, it could be literally anything else.

The real goal, imo, is opening up a whole new vein of taxpayer-subsidized contracts and incentives, and mining the ever-loving shit out of it.

@ashur BINGO!
like the 1 million satellites plan, it's not realistic at all. it just sounds plausible enough from the distance so it'll attract the hype and the investors.

now that I think about it, it's the same as with LLM / GenAI:
when you don't look closely it appears to be good, but even if you observe it from an average person's viewpoint, the details are blurred and makes no sense.

it seems VC investors only read the headlines of these assholes claims and they just throw money at them 🤷‍♂️
