#PhotoOfTheDay is another shot of the table knife that I forged out of a found spring or coil that was "rusted and busted." It cleaned up nicely.

The little dark specks are from imprecise hammer strikes, which I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand I shouldn't make them (I've gotten so much better) but also they show that the knife was made by hand & not just cranked out by a machine in some factory. The aesthetic of my work is important to me.

@croyle Those specks do add a little character, though.

When you do a project like this do you also make "before" photos?

@kr1st Normally yes, but I think for this one I inexplicably didn't take a "before" photo as I usually do... But I'll go check again. 😁

@kr1st Confirmed that I don't have any proper "before" photo of the piece. From memory, is tarted off as about a 3" diameter ring of rusty steel, maybe 3/8" in diameter.

I do have several photos of the knife in-process, from the first rough shaping to the finished product. I'll see if I can pick out a sequence of them to post so it shows the steps it went through.

@croyle That would be fun to see. It's quite a fun and amazing process to see when someone makes something like that.
