A president is tactful and sure as hell doesn't make jokes about Pearl Harbor in front of the Japanese prime minister! Come on Trump, can you be any more stupid! #Uspol
@NicksWorld I can't quite believe the difference between Trump today and that photo of Abe and Obama at Hiroshima from 2016.The phrase polar opposites springs to mind!
@cachondo What photo is this? SOrry, I didn't even know that was a thing. Blind so I don't even consider photos mostly.

@NicksWorld
In 2016, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe visited the US naval base at Pearl Harbor and a memorial in Arizona, offering "sincere and everlasting condolences" to the victims of Japan's attack.
Also in 2016, President Barack Obama became the first serving US president to visit Hiroshima, saying his visit was "a testament to how even the most painful divides can be bridged - how our two nations, former adversaries, cannot just become partners, but become the best of friends and the strongest of allies".

There's a pretty iconic photo of the 2 at the war memorial from the visit.
A very different flavour from today's remarks.

@cachondo That's real nice, for sure. Obama really was a classy guy as president.
@NicksWorld he was. A true statesman, I'd call him.
@cachondo @NicksWorld I so agree with you. When I visited the Arizona Memorial in 1988, it was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. Standing just behind us in line was a Japanese couple. They were also very emotional. We talked with them, learned who they had lost in WWII, and we had a hug. It opened my eyes more to the tragedy of war.
@Lynn @cachondo Not having lived in the 1940's, i don't feel it the same way as I did when I went to the 9/11 museum, now that was actually hard for me because they showed everything in detail and left nothing out. That was tough.
@NicksWorld @cachondo I'm sure the 9/11 Memorial would also be a very emotional experience for me.
