Recently someone told me that Leeds is in the North of England, but not the North-East.

Consett is definitely in the North-East. What's different about Consett is that it is to the north, and slightly to the west, of Leeds.

This message is brought to you by the Committee for the Public Awareness of the Fact that Edinburgh is West of Bristol.

@christianp I would not have guessed that, on the grounds that in my head I am often surprised by quiet how central Leeds is.

Also, I was born in Shotley Bridge, just outside Consett, so *pew pew pew airhorn*

@chrisd yeah, I can't really get my head round Yorkshire. There's just too much of it.
@christianp A head that really could get all the way around Yorkshire would be a considerable danger to Leeds Bradford Airport.
