Repeat after me: the more you feel the need for media to explicitly tell you who's good and who's the villain, how to behave and how to love, the more you expect it to give you answers instead of making you think and ask questions, the more vulnerable you are to all kinds of propaganda.
The more you can tolerate conflicting emotions and opinions, the more open and considerate you are of context and nuance, the more you tend not to rush with emotions, but to make well-thought-out judgments, based on various and thorough observations, the better you are equipped against it.
Populists prey on those who need someone to tell them how they should feel, what they should like, what is moral and what is not, what is socially acceptable and what is not, without making an effort to think and ask questions. This is their core base.
