New York Transit Museum🌱 Happy first day of #spring! Here in New York City, we have two springs. They're not seasons; they're stations! A station called Spring St appears on both the IRT Lexington Avenue Line and the IND Eighth Avenue Line.
The IRT’s (Interborough Rapid Transit) Spring St station (served today by the 6 train) is one of the oldest stations in the #NYCsubway system. It opened on October 27, 1904, and is part of the original 28 stations of the first subway line.
28 years after the IRT Spring St station opened, the Spring St station opened on the IND (Independent Subway System), It is served today by the C and E trains. Part of the IND’s Eighth Avenue Line, this Spring St station is on the West Side of #Manhattan.
