Today is #iocaine 3.3.0 release day.

I'd like if it included a Grafana dashboard for the built-in script. But I'm yet to build one. It's very similar in shape to NSoE's, mind you... but I'd still need to do some work on it.

I've been postponing this since forever. But this is likely going to be the last 3.x release, I really, really should.

I'll go grind some spoons1, and see if I can manage.

  • Well, hello there The Pitt S02E11! ↩︎

  • I have found enough spoons, and am in the middle of constructing a Grafana dashboard.
    Some descriptions might end up a bit... uhm. Well. A bit on the unhinged side, maybe.
    The hard part of this, is that I really should test the dashboads with data.
    Hrm. Do I make the dashboard part of the embeds, or... do I not? Hm. Making it part of the embeds makes it easier to ship & document it.
    I originally wanted to release iocaine 3.3.0-rc.2 today, and the final one next week, but... rc.1 has been working nicely in prod, and it's being used in OJF too, so... might as well make it a non-RC release!
    Preparations mostly done. Will tag & publish a bit later.
    iocaine 3.3.0 published, docs updated. That's enough adulting for the day. I'll go find some more spoons for tomorrow, because I have emails to write.
    @algernon How unusual from you.
    @algernon I found a Rust library to generate graphs from data, but I decided to not write a monitoring system for myself. (I've never experienced one I would want to use.)

    @liw Well done! Resisting the temptation to write Something Better is hard. When it comes to monitoring systems, I failed that dice roll twice so far (wrote one in Clojure, and another in Fennel, both abandoned now, both were terrible).

    Rooting for you to be able to resist the temptation further!
