new 80s kids single is out on bandcamp!

https://shannoncurtis.bandcamp.com/album/80s-kids-2

we hope you love it. what a great song; such fantastic lyrics 🥹🫶

really love @shannoncurtis's vocal performance on this one ❤️

hal david's lyric writing in this song is such a masterclass. has anyone ever effected a scene change with more economy, emotion, and grace than "shadows fall" at the top of verse 2? just astonishing writing 🥲
@hilljam Sounding ace as ever, Both!
This is the first #80sKids that totally passed me by at the time. Had to look it up, and it seemingly bombed over here unlike other places.
I think the intro arrangement has quite a Madness feel about, which makes sense, given the era.

@pete @hilljam eeee! I'm so glad you like it!! And how fun that it's kind of a new song for you! :D

@pete @hilljam @shannoncurtis omg, you are so right about that!

the song’s history is fascinating and worth wikipediaing of that sort of thing appeals to you

and thank you 🥰

@hilljam @shannoncurtis > if that sort of thing appeals to you
Oh no. I've never lost a morning's work by heading off down a song's historial wormhole on wikipedia. Nor did I discover just an hour ago that 80s band The Housemartins—whose final single had a similar title with a 'There is …' rather than a '(There's …)' prefix—never did anything at all on your side of the pond. 🙄
