I've been thinking a lot lately about what's important in life. Like for example... One of the nicest things I experience is the ability to cook dinner for my spouse and housemates. Also enjoyable is riding my bike. And of course, spending time with interesting and cool people.

I have lost so much interest in tech and being part of tech. I really enjoy programming, as I always will... but I definitely feel I'm going to try to find a way to make it my hobby, rather than my job.

I'm just so fed up with tech and most tech people. At least financial people know they're sucking the lifeblood out of others to live. Many tech people do that and think they're "saving the world" while doing it. They genuinely think you should thank them for their crimes against humanity.
I feel like being part of this culture nowadays is just... not good. Which of the 3 media companies would you like your culture sold to you from? Amazon, Netflix, or Disney? What's that? You don't want their media. Sorry, but no one else can afford this space. You're always welcome to watch independent content on Youtube or TikTok...

I've been slowly exiting it more and more. I own and maintain my own media. I don't drive a gasoline car and have started biking more. I run Linux instead of Windows. My primary social network that I actually *post* on is here on Mastodon, on a site completely owned by myself and the community I share it with.

I feel like I've been quite successful. I hardly ever buy things these days, and I almost never see advertisements. It's rare I find out some movie, show, or product is coming out now.

And I think it's good.

  • Nit that I ever chased mainstream (trends) but still…
