I very much hope that stupid fucking Trump blowing up the Persian Gulf will finally push a lot of countries that have been sitting on the fence to finally invest in renewables like they should have done twenty years ago.
@tsturm Japan has to mull it over first

@soycamo Sky-high fuel prices will maybe finally get people to stop idling their cars in the konbini parking lots.

I don't ask for much.

@tsturm Russo-Ukrainian war has finally pushed Europe to invest seriously into jumping off Russian gas. I guess that's the only way geopolitics really works.
@isagalaev And even that wasn't enough to get the Germans to actually sit down and think. They just went and started buying their gas in other places. So frustrating.

@tsturm you mean like they did 6y ago, when the pandemic threatened global trade, or 3y ago, when Russia’s war on Ukraine made the price of gas skyrocket?

I think it’s time to accept that the leadership in most large economies is completely incompetent and thinking at best 2 news cycles ahead.

@deivudesu Yes... the incompetence is everywhere.

It's incredible that the simple concept "Sun and Wind are free" somehow is not easy enough to understand.

@tsturm The saddest part is that I suspect it has more to do with self-interest and shortsightedness, than actual incompetence (although I'm sure there's some of that).
