Main way to get to Hana is a windy road on ocean cliffs through a jungle with a ton of one-lane bridges. The infrastructure on that side of Maui is used to rain (mostly nightly showers), but not prolonged torrential downpours and certainly not heavy winds.

It's not surprising that a bunch of those trees uphill on the mauka (mountain) side of the road would end up on the road after a storm. There's probably dozens of miles of "highway" to clear and repair. Hopefully no structural damage from erosion 😬
