I have this tool cart I want to convert into a welding cart, so I’ve decided to use some scrap angle iron to build a platform to hold a couple of gas cylinders. Do you smell what The Rock is cookin’???
Got around to welding the frame together tonight. Not the prettiest weld, but it’ll hold.
Next I have to cut a piece of sheet metal to line the bottom with, weld that into place, and then weld the frame onto the bottom of tool cart. I think I should weld the wheels onto the bottom of the frame right under the gas tanks, that’ll probably be the best for structural support, I guess? Or I could just screw them back into place where they already were. Hmm.
I’m reasonably happy with how it turned out. Not bad for a total noob I guess! Needs some cleanup and some paint of course. And I still need to add a smaller rack up near the top that the gas cylinders can be chained to securely, but that is a problem for tomorrow-me.
The cart actually had some M6 threaded holes for accessories on the side, so for now I’m just running a chain and an S-hook across them held down with bolts. I have to wait for the paint to dry before loading up tanks, but I think it looks pretty darn good!
… and this is why I wanted to build a big new cart 😬 Jesus, this thing is big. It’s so big it came double boxed in a wood crate. A PrimeWeld 325X TIG welder. What have I done…
@tilton That needs to be turned into a computer case if it ever dies.
@jackemled Oh my god I hope it doesn’t die 😅 I want it to last a real long time!
